Systems Admin/Systems Technician (Linux)

We are seeking an innovative self-motivated person, who thrives on working with new technology. This role is the chance for a creative and adaptable individual to apply their skills in configuring and customising solutions.
Opportunities exist for a suitably talented person, to utilise their ideas and knowledge practically, in the areas of script/application development, web server development, and hands on technical configuration of electronics/PC-like hardware.
You will be joining the team of a small technology integration company, located in Melbourne, developing solutions based on a range of technologies including GPS, RF, GPRS, 3G, Information Displays, and web services.
Applicants must hold a tertiary qualification in Information Technology/Engineering or related field with competence in Perl/Shell and general server/product systems administration, under the Linux environment.
To be successful in this role you must meet the following criteria:
- Be team oriented
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative
- Strong Linux installation and administration skills
- Linux clustering knowledge
- Knowledge of Linux administration tools
- UNIX scripting experience
- Experience with Apache
- Strong documentation skills
- MySQL
- Perl and Shell scripting, and some PHP
- PC troubleshooting
- Java knowledge would be an advantage
Additional competencies we seek are good time management skills, strong customer service ethic and problem-solving skills.
Some understanding of circuit board design, microprocessors, electronics, and soldering skills would be an advantage.
